This unique programme emphasises on the courses which have vast potential for applications in the area of computer sciences. It offers an exciting opportunity to those interested in Mathematics and wish to understand how Mathematics can be put to practical use. It discusses modelling and solving of real world problems in the context of computer applications. Studies in this two( 2) year programme are divided into four (4) semesters (2 semesters per year). The first semester is from January to June and the second semester is from July to December of each year. This Certificate in Business Skills Programme has been development jointly by IGNOU, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) and Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver, Canada. The main objective of this programme is to enable NGOs and other agencies to develop business skills among the street children. This is a vocational programme, as it gives more emphasis to self-employment. This certificate programme makes the learners competent in the areas of business communication, entrepreneurship, basic computer knowledge, business organisation and accounting.
TOPICS (EXAMPLE)
The project work constitutes a compulsory component of the programme and you should carry it out with
due care and sincerity. It gives you an opportunity to apply your core mathematical
knowledge/tools/techniques to solve real life problems related to some industry/academic institutions/
research and development organizations/software companies. You are advised to choose a project which
has a direct relevance to your day-to-day activities. A sample list of some of the projects is given on page
12 of the guide. However, it is not mandatory for you to choose a project from the given list. You can
formulate a project problem on your own or with the help of your project supervisor. After finalizing the
problem, submit the project proposal of the same to the programme facilitator at your centre for approval.
Once approved, you can start working on it.
